marma point massage for self care

Before we begin, please note that working with marma points - subtle energy points within the body - can sometimes evoke emotional responses, as these points access deeper layers of the nervous system and subconscious mind.

If at any time during the practice you feel emotionally unsettled, overwhelmed or uncomfortable, please stop the session. Return to your breath, rest in a grounding posture and take time to gently settle. If needed, seek support from a trusted health or mental health professional.

This practice is intended to support your wellbeing, but every body and emotional landscape is unique. Always move at your own pace, listen to your body and honour your boundaries.

Marma point massage is an ancient healing modality which stems from Ayurveda, dating back to Southern India 1500 BC. Marma points are situated over the lymph nodes in the body, at the intersections of bones, muscles, joints, veins and tendons. They can be likened to Chinese acupressure points, acting as relay stations along the nadis to support optimal flow of prana (life force). Nadis are the channels of the subtle body in which prana flows. Our subtle body is the energetic body, otherwise known as the aura. When prana is flowing well through the nadis, we feel and look our best.

This marma point series can be used as a gentle and natural facelift by working to release tension from the face muscles and mind. A relaxed face and peaceful mind will be reflected in a more open, soft and radiant face, as circulation can flow freely to nourish the tissues and skin. This gentle practice may be a lovely addition to your self care rituals, if it feels right for you.
